When cool, moist air from the coast meets hot attic spaces, water vapor condenses on roof sheathing and drips onto insulation below. Homes in coastal neighborhoods like Ocean Beach, La Jolla, and Pacific Beach face this issue repeatedly from May through August. Add an older roof with inadequate ridge venting or blocked soffit intakes, and you create a cycle where damp insulation never fully dries between weather events. This is why we see chronic insulation saturation in homes that have never experienced an obvious roof leak.
